Description11'' tall ; wood, stained dark; ''May the Lord in his mercy guide me and make me find his gold... for gold is excellent... he who has gold may do what he wills...'' ~~the anthem of the Conquistador. This figure reflects the influences of the Spanish quest for gold. The billowing pants and jacket woud have been made of the finest silk, along with the hat of the finest woven cloth. The belt buckle would have been made in either brass or tin and then gold-plated to show his importance and wealth. The conquistadors' influence from Spain can be seen in the art of the indiginous people after the arrival of the Spanish to the Americas.
